STUDIO

During the second semester of my second year at AMFI, we had to work on the project 'Studio'. In Studio, we were assigned to a group in which we had to work on a collection for a brand. This year it was Balenciaga.*
*Disclaimer: it is not a cooperation with the brand but a school project. In no way Balenciaga knew about or was involved with this project.

Within our group, we first started by making an analysis of the brand, the zeitgeist, and other important information that we could use later on. With this as a starting point, each of us had to come up with an individual concept. After sharing these with each other we tried to combine them into one coherent concept for our collection.

After concluding this process, we could start our individual designs that fit this created concept. We had to stick to the toolboxes that we created, containing color, material, craft, and silhouette. The fun part was to see how all four of us would create slightly different sub-collections with the same concept. 

I really enjoyed both the group and individual work: creating the concept together and then working this out on my own. It was really insightful to learn more about the DNA of a brand and try to create a collection that could be made by them.
